 Preponing Your Periods

 1. Papaya

Papaya is one of the most effective home remedies for preponing your menses as it generates excessive heat in your body. Carotene present in this fruit helps in stimulating the hormone estrogen, thereby inducing your menses early.

 2. Jaggery

Always available in the Indian kitchen, jaggery is a good home remedy for preponing periods. Consume jaggery with sesame seeds or drink a glass of ginger juice with jaggery on an empty stomach early in the morning as this is believed to help pre-pone your menstruation cycle.

3. Pomegranate

Drink pomegranate juice thrice a day for some days or have one glass of (pomegranate juice with sugarcane juice) juice mixture four times a day to start your menstrual cycle early.

 4. Carrots

Eat fresh carrots (or pumpkin – rich in carotene) or have carrot juice 2-3 times a day, as carotene present in carrots encourages the production of estrogen thereby preponing your menstrual cycle.

 5. Carom seeds

Having a glass of juice made from carom seeds or even fenugreek seeds is found to help in preponing your periods by few days.

 6. Sesame seeds

You can have a teaspoon of sesame seeds with jaggery around 15 days prior to the expected date or can have a spoonful of sesame seeds with hot water 2 times a day for early menstruation.

7. Pineapple

It is one of the good heat-inducing foods that seems to act effectively if you need to pre-pone your periods, when consumed in larger quantities.

 8. Turmeric

Add a pinch of turmeric powder to boiling water and drink it in the morning and evening every day for around 15 days prior to your expected date to raise your chances of early menses by approximately 5 days.

 Postponing Your Periods

Here are some remedies, which if you follow you could manage to postpone your periods.

9. Parsley Leaves

Parsley Leaves to be boiled in half litre water for about twenty minutes. And the water has to be strained and consumed warm with honey twice or thrice a day.

 10. Spicy Food

Cut down on spicy food as they generate heat in the body. Some of these are chillies, hot pepper, garlic, paprika, black pepper etc.

11. Gram Lentils

Consume fried gram lentil soup with warm water daily for a week before the beginning of periods. It is best to drink this soup empty stomach.

12. Exercise More

Increase the amount of physical activity you engage in, starting two to four weeks prior to the time of your next expected period.

13. Vinegar

A glass of mineral water with three or four spoons of vinegar in it thrice a day is an effective way to delay periods. It slows down menstrual symptoms and reduce the flow as well.

14. Emotional Stress

A woman under a lot of stress will miss her menstrual cycle or will be delayed, even if she does not want it to alter. It can be done by taking more responsibilities and pushing oneself to the limits.
